Privacy for the public demonstration

The public demonstration accepts text that you submit and optional context so it can return a category from the taxonomy you selected.

What happens to submitted text

Appellation sends the submitted text to the OpenAI embeddings API as part of producing a result. Appellation does not add public-demo submissions or returned mappings to its normal mapping history or result cache.

OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the account holder opts in. Under its default controls, embeddings requests may be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days. See OpenAI's data controls for the provider's current policy.

What Appellation records

The service records limited operational information needed to run and protect the demonstration, such as request time, route, response status, latency, aggregate token counts, and security events. These records are designed not to contain the submitted text or returned category.

What not to submit

Use the public demonstration only with non-sensitive text. Do not submit confidential information, personal data, regulated data, credentials, or material you are not permitted to share.
